A practical list of official phone numbers for NDIS, My Aged Care, DVA, emergency help, carers and complaints. This page does not list private support worker companies or private nursing providers.
If someone is in immediate danger
Call Triple Zero (000) for police, fire or ambulance in a life-threatening or time-critical emergency.
Emergency and crisis support
- Triple Zero: 000 for police, fire or ambulance emergencies.
- Emergency relay for TTY users: 106 through the National Relay Service.
- Queensland SES: 132 500 for non-life-threatening flood and storm emergency assistance.
- Policelink Queensland: 131 444 for non-urgent police matters.
- Poisons Information Centre: 13 11 26 for poisoning advice, 24 hours a day.
- 13 HEALTH Queensland: 13 43 25 84 for confidential health advice from a registered nurse.
- Lifeline: 13 11 14 for crisis support. SMS 0477 13 11 14 or use Lifeline crisis chat.
NDIS and disability support
- NDIS participants: 1800 800 110.
- NDIS First Nations Connect: 1800 411 640.
- NDIS providers: 1300 311 675.
- NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission: 1800 035 544 for complaints or concerns about NDIS providers or workers.
Aged care and older person support
- My Aged Care: 1800 200 422 for aged care assessments, referrals and information.
- Carer Gateway: 1800 422 737 for carers seeking support and respite information.
- Older Persons Advocacy Network: 1800 700 600 for free, confidential aged care advocacy.
- Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission: 1800 951 822 for aged care complaints and feedback.
- Queensland Elder Abuse Helpline: 1300 651 192 for free, confidential information and referrals.
DVA and veteran support
- Department of Veterans' Affairs: 1800 VETERAN (1800 838 372) for DVA general enquiries.
- Open Arms Veterans & Families Counselling: 1800 011 046 for free, confidential 24/7 counselling for veterans and families.
Language, hearing and communication support
- Translating and Interpreting Service: 131 450. Ask the interpreter to call the service you need.
- National Relay Service Speak and Listen: 1800 555 727.
- National Relay Service TTY: 1800 555 677.
When to use which number
- Use 000 when someone is seriously injured, in immediate danger, or needs urgent police, fire or ambulance help.
- Use 132 500 for Queensland SES help during storm or flood events where the situation is not life-threatening.
- Use 1800 800 110 for NDIS participant enquiries and access questions.
- Use 1800 200 422 for My Aged Care assessments and government-funded aged care support.
- Use 1800 VETERAN for DVA matters, and 1800 011 046 for veteran and family counselling.
