Your NDIS is changing: what happens next
Published 27 September 2026. This visual guide from My Caring Guide provides a simple timeline of key NDIS changes from now to January 2028.
Timeline at a glance
- Now: new rules affect when an early plan reassessment can be requested.
- 1 October 2026: some support budgets may begin reducing when an affected plan is reassessed or a new plan is approved.
- December 2026: a general 90-day timeframe begins for claiming supports already received.
- 1 February 2027: plan renewals replace plan continuations for many participants.
- April 2027: the new planning approach starts rolling out to a smaller group before expanding.
- 1 January 2028: new access and eligibility changes begin, with existing participants progressively reassessed over three years.
